Every year the Railroad Museum of New England is proud to offer summer scenic train rides. Pulled by one of our vintage diesel locomotives, you will be able to take a break from the hot sun and enjoy a fresh breeze as you ride along the Naugatuck river. This trip will leave from Thomaston Station, taking you south through the valley. On this portion of the trip, there are several bridges which the train goes over, giving visitors an even better view of the river below. After switching directions and heading north, the train shall take you up the grade to the ever so famous Thomaston Dam, followed by the Summit where you be able to view the impressive rock cuts that were made back when the railroad was originally built. Throughout your ride, one of our volunteers will be giving an oral history of the Naugatuck Railroad and the RMNE. These rides are offered every Saturday and Sunday during the summer months and run about 1 hour and 20 minutes in length.
