Built 1956 by the Budd Company for use on Santa Fe’s El Capitan between Chicago and Los Angeles. Absorbed into Amtrak at founding in 1971. Rebuilt by Amtrak in the mid-1990s as “Pacific Parlor” car for use on the Coast Starlight between Seattle and Los Angeles. Retired from Amtrak service in 2018. Sold by Amtrak to the Steam Railroading Institute (SRI) in 2019. Purchased from SRI by RMNE in 2024. Mechanically overhauled in 2025 and entered service in November 2025.

Special note, the 575 was the first Hi-Level lounge car built by the Budd Company.  This resulted in the car being used heavily in Budd Company and Santa Fe Railway advertising.
