Presented by the Railroad Museum of New England
TICKETS ON SALE SOON!
Ride the Rails in a 1950s Railroad Motor Car, just like the railroad employees used to!
Get closer to the railroad and ride as many maintenance-of-way and signal employees once did. A maximum of 5 riders per departure time. Rides will depart from our 1881 Thomaston station and will be a round trip to a view point and waterfall at Mile Post 12.5. This trip will go across the face of the Thomaston dam and through multiple large rock cuts.
This type of ride has never been offered on the Naugatuck Railroad to the general public before. Do not miss this unique chance to ride the Naugatuck Railroad and see the tacks from a different perspective. Cost is $35 per person.
Keep in mind this is an open outdoor experience that will run rain or shine. We are using original 1950s equipment that requires the rider to be able to climb on and off the motor car without assistance. The Primary unit is a 1959 Canadian National Railways open track gang car, model A3 build by Fairmont. The secondary unit is a 1954 Maine Central Railroad “enclosed” track inspection motor car, model M-19 also built by Fairmont. Learn more about our motor cars on the equipment collection Page!
